October dates posted for CMA Premiere!

We’re very much looking forward to premiering a bunch of new music commissioned by Chamber Music America as part of their 2012 New Jazz Works grant program.  We’re honored to be included in a very illustrious cast of composers and performers and have been hard at work on this new suite of music based on a variety of traditional west African tunes, both obscure and popular, reimagined through Andrew’s contemporary compositional lens.

We’ll be debuting this music October 30 at Jimmy Mak’s in Portland, Nov. 2 at Traditions in Olympia, and Nov. 3 at the Earshot Jazz Festival in Seattle.  Full details at the “Shows” page.  We’ll be leading up to it with some new audio and video interviews about the music.

We’ve also updated the site design and added some new pages, have a look around!  And, following up on the previous post, here is another video from our most recent appearance at Empty Sea Studios in Seattle, this time with one of our favorite tunes, “Sinyaro:”
